On the navigation menu on the left, each component has been broken down into more concise topics.   Within each topic will be notes, videos and examples all worked out to show that mathematical topic.
This course will contain many ideas from Algebra 2 that students should have seen before.   These topics will be looked at in more depth and students should be able to utilize these topics to expand thinking into solving more complex problems.   College Algebra adds an extra step or two to help with the solution process.
Research is showing that students are having difficulty reading in mathematics.   One of the goals for this approach is to help students read math.   By reading and processing math information on your own, have me fill in the gaps when needed and practicing new problems, I believe you will be successful in this College Algebra course.
By using the outline described on the main page:
Many times we will work in groups to ask each other questions, share what you already know and to teach each other.   Sometimes working through a problem, even when it produces an incorrect answer, can provide deeper understanding to members of the group.   Be willing to share what notes you took away from the homework reading.   Sometimes a group member picked up on something that you may have glanced over, and it can save a lot of time and frustration.
All I can ask from you is to be engaged with the topic each day.   I know it is easy to get frustrated, discouraged and want to give up.   In a 93 minute time period, if you can stay actively involved in the activities, the time will pass by quicker, and your class participation may just improve your overall grade and save you at the end of the semester.   Finally, have some fun in this course!
